Made in 2025, this pair came from an earlier Astro Boy project I worked on with Soy Toy Club, where the comic artwork was originally used for the shoe lining.

I had some of the printed vinyl left over after the project and decided to take the idea further - heat pressing it onto white canvas and using it to construct an entire Air Jordan 1 upper.

Rather than selecting individual panels to sit in specific areas, the comic runs across the different pieces of the shoe, turning the full upper into a black-and-white collage.

The entire upper is built from white canvas heat pressed with Astro Boy comic artwork.

The black-and-white print continues across the toe, side panels, Swooshes, eyestays, collar, heel and tongue, with the original Air Jordan 1 panel construction breaking the artwork into overlapping sections.

Black laces, black lining and black outsole keep the rest of the shoe minimal and let the comic artwork remain the focus.
