AJ1 Off-White Inspired Card Holder — Leather Pattern (PDF)

Build a card holder based on the Off-White AJ1 silhouette, using the pattern developed in my workshop.

This digital PDF includes the pattern pieces and a written how-to guide needed to build the card holder shown — layered panels, eyelets, and a stitched swoosh detail, scaled down into a functional card holder.

Beginner-friendly. Designed for makers looking for something beyond a traditional wallet.

*** A downloadable pattern, not a finished card holder — you’ll be doing the making.

The Project Story

This pattern isn’t a flat wallet shape — it recreates the proportions and panel lines of the Off-White AJ1, not a standard Jordan 1. Layered panels, eyelets, and a stitched swoosh detail are, carried over from that construction and scaled down into something you can carry in a pocket. The miniature sneaker construction is the point, not a decoration on top of a regular card holder.

Materials

This pattern isn't limited to leather — any material you can stitch through will work. That said, here's what I'd recommend for the best result:

Outer panels & card slots: 0.8–1.2mm leather. This is the visible silhouette, so it needs enough body to hold its shape without adding unnecessary bulk.

Lining & spine: No more than 0.8mm. Keeping this thin is what stops the folded edges piling up once everything's layered together.

A note on thickness: every layer you add stacks on top of the last, so the material you choose has a direct effect on the finished feel of the wallet. Go too thick and you'll end up with something bulky in the pocket — and at a certain point, too thick to stitch through at all, by hand or machine. Thinning down the panel edges where they overlap helps keep things sitting flat, and it's covered in the guide.
